Federal Tenants at March
With the surplus of property and facilities at March, many federal and Department of Defense agencies chose to
relocate to March, since the Air Force Reserves were remaining. Additionally, several facilities and property has
been placed into "civilian reuse" by local agencies.
Federal Agencies located at Former March Air Force Base:
- March Air Reserve Base
A. 452nd Air Mobility Wing
B. 4th Air Force Headquarters
C. Air National Guard
- U.S. Customs
- Armed Forces Radio and Television
- Air Force Office of Accounting
- Navy-Marine Reserves
- 63rd Army Reserves
- California Army National Reserve
The Base Exchange and Commissary at March remain open for business, to serve military, retired military, and
reservist personnel of Southern California.
Base Reuse Tenants
As a result of realignment from March Air Force Base to March Air Reserve Base, several activities have had the
opportunity to reuse former base facilities.
March Field Park
The City of Moreno Valley, after leasing the former base recreational fields last year, has completed the rehabilitation
of two softball fields. Moreno Valley Park & Recreation utilize these fields six nights a week for adult league play.
The city is completing renovation of the Children's Activity Center. The center opened Fall, 1999. The Moreno Valley
Park & Recreation Department can be contacted at (951) 413-3280 for more information on the recreational
programs.
Ben Clark Training Center
Opening in 1996, the Clark Training Center (CTC) provides training of public safety officers for several local, state,
and regional agencies. With a complex of buildings that include a large office building, an office and classroom building,
two dormitories, a dining and meeting facility, a sound stage, and 365 acres for the development of future training
facilities, the CTC provides essential training services for police, fire, and emergency medical services personnel. Recently,
a $1-million grant has been awarded to assist with providing training and new facilities at the CTC.
The Center is leased, but it will eventually be transferred to Riverside County under a "public benefit conveyance." This
is an authorization for the federal government to transfer surplus property at no cost for public uses. The Training Center is
managed by the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Over time, the Center will continue to develop according to a Master
Plan into one of the foremost public safety training centers in the United States.
